Anuciatha’s Letter

Bukoba, June 9, 2026. A young woman walks through the doors of the Partage Tanzania office and hands over a letter. Her name is Anuciatha Byera. She is 20 years old. And she has just completed the equivalent of her high school education.
Anuciatha was born in 2006 in Ishozi, in the Kagera region. She lost both her parents when she was just four years old, and Partage Tanzania took her under its wing in 2013, when she was still in primary school.
In December 2016, at the age of ten, she ran away. Eight months later, she was found in Bukoba, living in very difficult circumstances with a family of traders, where her grandmother had sent her to work in exchange for money. She was welcomed at the Partage NURU centre, cared for, and then helped back to school — and back towards a future.
What happened next is something Anuciatha tells herself, in a handwritten letter she brought to the Bukoba office last month.
She traces, school by school, every step of her journey. She thanks Rosemary, her mentor mother, who gave her a home when the NURU centre closed. She thanks Philipo Clenin. She thanks Partage Tanzania. And she makes a promise: to work hard at university and, one day, help other orphaned children in return.
She dreams of becoming a computer engineer. Her university placement results are still awaited.
We are waiting for them with her.
This is what Partage Tanzania has been here for over the past 35 years. Not simply to provide food, healthcare and schooling, but to help a child who once had no one to rely on reach a point where she can look back on her journey, see how far she has come, and want to do the same for others.
