Graduation at Kabyaile Farm School – December 3, 2025

On December 3, the Kabyaile Farm School celebrated a deeply emotional moment of pride: the graduation ceremony for its 2023-2025 class. A day dedicated to sharing knowledge, skills, and hope for the future, right in the heart of the village.

Training rooted in local reality

Kabyaile Farm School welcomes young people who were not admitted to secondary school but own a small plot of land and wish to live and work in their village. During two years of training, they learn to make the most of the land, local resources and their own potential.

This year, 16 young people graduated, while 26 students are continuing their first year of training, proof of the growing interest in this practical and sustainable learning model.

Students at the heart of KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER

On this day, the students themselves guided visitors (parents, neighbours, local elected officials) around the farm. They proudly presented the fruits of their learning and demonstrated their skills.

The training covers:

  • Perennial crops (coffee, bananas, vanilla);

  • Seasonal crops (maize, beans, sweet potatoes, soy, peanuts, taro, etc.);

  • Vegetable gardening and aromatic plants;

  • Seedling management, composting, and rhizome propagation;

  • Greenhouse cultivation and Azolla fodder production;

  • Soil analysis and comparison of natural and industrial fertilizers;

  • Animal husbandry (goats, sheep, pigs, poultry, rabbits, beekeeping);

  • Construction and management of farm infrastructure (pigsties, goat sheds, chicken coops, rabbit hutches, beehives).

A celebration full of life

After touring the facilities, everyone gathered for a shared meal before the official graduation ceremony, filled with speeches, dances, and a joyful, collective spirit.

Each graduate received an agricultural kit and a choice of a pair of animals or a beehive, enabling them to start their professional activities immediately and become self-sufficient.

Looking toward tomorrow

In Kabyaile, training goes beyond agricultural techniques: it empowers young people to build a sustainable life project, benefiting both their families and their community.

🌱 Looking to 2026: Thanks to the dedication and generosity of donors, we hope to welcome the next class with the same energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to passing on knowledge so that the land continues to open up paths toward a brighter future.
